The Altman Group–Internship Q&A

Through an internship at The Altman Group you will have the opportunity to meet a variety of people, allowing you to build powerful relationships with mentors to guide you into your future. An internship at The Altman Group is a perfect opportunity for you to gain valuable experience that will make you more marketable to employers – these days employers look for more in a potential hire than just good grades!

Does the student choose which department in which he/she wants to work?

No, placement is at the sole discretion of the Company.

What is the time commitment?

The internship program requires a commitment of 5 half days during the fall and spring semesters. The summer program is a full time commitment over the course of 10 weeks. Hours are typically 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, but can vary depending on the needs of the department.

What are the duties?

Duties vary by department. All departments require excellent written and oral skills and the ability to work in a fast–paced environment.

Who is eligible?

College juniors, seniors, and graduate students attending accredited colleges are eligible from a variety of majors qualify including law, journalism, marketing, public relations, finance, to name a few. Participants must have computer skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, and a 3.5 GPA or above. Students must receive college credit for the internship.

What qualifications should an applicant possess?

  • Ability to engage effectively with major investors/analysts to positively promote Clients and The Altman Group as a business
  • Excellent written, presentation, and oral skills
  • Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism
  • Ability to problem solve with little or no direction
  • Proficiency in using a variety of computer software applications especially Microsoft Office software
  • Tenacious in meeting deadlines, with a strong sense of urgency and good self-management discipline. Capable of working effectively under pressure
  • Works well without close supervision
  • Ability to adapt to differing situations and changing priorities

Is this a paid internship?

Yes, Interns are paid $10.00 per hour.

Am I guaranteed a job if I intern?

No. Participation in the internship program is not a guarantee of future employment.

When are students notified about the position?

The Altman Group reviews all submitted applications and contacts qualified candidates for a personal interview. We do not respond to application status inquiries.

What paperwork must be submitted to apply to The Altman Group?

The Altman Group must receive written confirmation from your college stating that you will receive credit for the internship. All students are required to get college credit. Application materials must be mailed together.
